NATO, one-piece and two-piece nylon
A NATO is a one-piece nylon strap that passes under the case and through two keepers, so the watch stays on your wrist if a spring bar fails; it adds about 2 mm of height. A single-pass (one-piece) strap skips the second layer and sits flatter. Two-piece nylon straps attach like a leather strap and are the slimmest option. All three need the exact lug width.
Hardware and thickness
Brushed hardware matches brushed cases (Seiko, Orient, Casio); polished suits dress watches. Seatbelt-weave nylon is softer and thicker than military ballistic nylon. Thin straps pass under Seiko's fat spring bars; thick ones may not.
