What Is WatchValueScore?

WatchValueScore brings Wall Street-grade analysis to the luxury watch market. We rate every watch on a transparent 0-100 scale using five measurable factors: value retention, brand strength, specification quality, market liquidity, and price-to-spec ratio. Then we calculate what each watch actually costs per year to own — not just the sticker price, but the net annual expense after factoring in depreciation, servicing, and insurance.

The result: a $14,000 Rolex Submariner can cost just $108 per year to own (less than Netflix), while a $4,000 watch from a less established brand might cost $800+ per year once depreciation is factored in. Our data makes these hidden costs visible so you can make informed decisions.

How It Works

Every watch page includes five proprietary analyses you won't find anywhere else for free. The WVS Value Score rates each watch 0-100 across five weighted factors with full transparency on the formula. The Cost of Ownership Calculator reveals the true annual expense after depreciation, servicing, and insurance. The Price History Chart tracks market trends over 3+ years. The Cross-Brand Comparison automatically matches each watch against its closest competitors. And the "Should I Buy?" Calculator gives you a personalized recommendation based on your budget and goals.

Our analysis is brand-agnostic — the same formula applies to a $2,000 TAG Heuer and a $150,000 Patek Philippe. We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links, but this never affects scores or recommendations. Full methodology →
