About WatchValueScore

Our Mission

WatchValueScore exists to bring transparency and data-driven analysis to the luxury watch market. We believe that every watch buyer — whether purchasing their first timepiece or adding to a collection — deserves access to the same quality of market intelligence that was previously available only to industry insiders and professional dealers.

The luxury watch market has historically been opaque. Retail prices are fixed, but secondary market values fluctuate based on supply, demand, brand perception, and market cycles. Without reliable data, buyers risk overpaying, choosing models with poor value retention, or missing opportunities in the market. WatchValueScore was built to solve this problem.

What We Offer

Every watch in our database receives five proprietary analyses that you won't find anywhere else for free:

WVS Value Score™

A 0-100 composite rating based on five weighted factors: value retention, brand strength, specification quality, market liquidity, and price-to-specification ratio. The score provides an objective, comparable metric for evaluating any luxury watch's long-term value proposition. We publish the exact formula and factor weights so you can understand exactly how scores are calculated.

Cost of Ownership

The purchase price of a watch is only part of the story. Our cost-of-ownership model calculates the net annual expense of owning each watch by factoring in depreciation (or appreciation), manufacturer-recommended service costs amortized over the service interval, and insurance at prevailing rates. The result is a single dollar-per-year figure that reveals the true cost — and sometimes, surprisingly, a luxury watch can cost less per year to own than many everyday consumer goods.

Price Tracking

We track market prices over time using aggregated data from public listings across major secondary market platforms. Our price history charts show trends, peaks, corrections, and the current market position relative to retail MSRP — helping you decide whether now is the right time to buy or sell.

Cross-Brand Comparisons

Every watch page includes an automated comparison matrix that identifies the most relevant alternatives based on watch type, price range, and specifications. We compare not just specs and prices, but also Value Scores and ownership costs — the metrics that actually matter for your purchase decision.

"Should I Buy?" Calculator

Our interactive tool analyzes your specific budget, condition preference, and intended holding period against our market data to provide a personalized buying recommendation. It's the analysis a knowledgeable friend in the watch industry would give you — available instantly and for free.

Our Coverage

WatchValueScore currently covers 21 luxury watch brands, 64 collections, and 116 individual reference numbers spanning the full spectrum of luxury watchmaking — from accessible luxury (TAG Heuer, Tudor) through prestige brands (Rolex, Omega, Cartier) to haute horlogerie (Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Söhne). We continuously expand our database and update pricing data monthly.

Editorial Independence

WatchValueScore earns revenue through affiliate commissions when you purchase a watch through links on our site. This is clearly disclosed on every page. Crucially, our Value Scores, cost-of-ownership calculations, and buying recommendations use the same methodology and data regardless of affiliate relationships. We do not accept payment for favorable scores or placement, and our algorithms are brand-agnostic — they evaluate every watch by the same criteria.
